Long ago, Maiolica storage jars for Italian pharmacies were highly decorative. This beautiful urn is decorated as a pharmaceutical jar might have been in the 1400’s. The label reads “Aq. Citrus Limonium” which translates simply to “lemon water”. Drinking lemon water was known to provide a myriad of health benefits but they would even apply it to their skin as a potent brightener.
