Description

St. Martin of Tours was a Roman soldier who became a bishop and is best known for his compassion and humility. Born in the 4th century, he is famous for cutting his cloak in half to share with a beggar. After converting to Christianity, he left the army and became a monk, later serving as Bishop of Tours. St. Martin’s feast day is November 11th, and he is the patron saint of soldiers and the poor.
